With Valen -tine’s Day just around the corner, people are thinking about the people they love and how to express that love to them. The most popular ways are with flowers and candy, and of course the “Valentine” card which was how the day was celebrated in the early years. Many couples go to dinner and a night out, and with the holiday being on a Friday this year , that choice will be quite popular. But what about saying you care about someone on the rest of the days of the year. Nothing says, “I Love You” more than a surprise gesture with a simple token of affection. It truly is from the heart when it is unexpected, and the recipient knows you really care about them.
Try some suggestions here to let those you love know you care!• Make a CD of songs by their favorite singers, or type of music and leave it on the seat of the car for them to find.• Write a poem or note of how much you care and put it in their lunch bag.• Work on a project together.• Make a snack pack of candies or treats with a little note inside and put it under the cushion of their favorite seat ( so when they sit down they will find it).• Place a new stuffed animal under the sheets, so when your loved one goes to bed they find the furry friend (this is great for kids).• Take a moonlite walk and just spend time talking.• Make a picnic basket of favorite foods and go to a special place to lay out a blanket and picnic. You can even do this inside in a quiet area if the weather is bad.• Have a balloon with a cute message delivered to your loved one’s work or school. Do this on a random day that is not a birthday or holiday.• Make a scrap book of a special day together. Use pictures, menus, ticket stubs, or whatever will remind them of that day.• Spend a quiet night at home with NO interruptions. Watch a movie, play a game but no phone, people or animals that would take away from your time together.• Plan a note scavenger hunt. Place a note of love at each “point” of your person’s day: one by the shower or breakfast table in the morning, in the car, at the desk at school or work, in their lunch sack, on the couch, the dinner plate and bed at the end of the day. Tell them how much they mean to you and how glad you are that they are in your life.• Send a random email in the middle of the day. Catch them off guard with your love. However you choose to show you care, make sure to demonstrate this love all year and to every significant person (kids , parents and siblings too), in your life!
