Lebanon —
A Lebanon man was arrested Thursday, hours after he allegedly robbed the Lebanon Big Lots store.
The suspect is Brandon Youkey, 24, 2348 Granite Dr., Lebanon.
According to Lebanon Police Public Information Officer Brent Wheat, a man entered the Big Lots about 6:10 p.m. and presented a cashier with a note saying he had a gun and that he was demanding money.
The man took the money and left the store. The amount of money was not disclosed.
A witness immediately identified the suspect as Youkey, and police surrounded Youkey’s apartment, which is just behind the Big Lots store.
Accord to Wheat, police were in the process of getting a warrant to search the apartment when they learned the suspect had left in a vehicle with another person. Maj. Mike Nielsen of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department was able to contact the vehicle’s driver and the vehicle, which had gone to Indianapolis, was stopped on its way back into the city. Youkey was arrested at about 8:15 Thursday night without incident.
Wheat said Youkey had gone to Indianapolis to buy heroin. No money was recovered and the drugs had been ingested, he said.
Youkey is facing robbery changes, a Class B felony.
