Council defers action on two plans

Staff report

Lebanon Another 163 acres could be brought into the city limits if officials approve a request from Duke Realty.

The undeveloped land is at the southwest corner of Lebanon Business Park, attorney Kent Frandsen told the city council Monday.

Duke owns the property, Frandsen said. The land is south of Mount Zion Road and west of the Gander Mountain distribution center.

A map of the property showed possible locations for four buildings, but Duke does not yet have tenants for the annexation area, Frandsen said.

A “fiscal plan,” describing how much it will cost to provide water, sewer, electric and public safety services to an annexed area, is required by law. Not all council members had reviewed the fiscal plan, so the council tabled action until a later meeting.

In another annexation issue, the council deferred second reading of an ordinance to expand the city by six square miles.

The land is roughly a half-mile either side of Interstate 65 from the city’s southern boundary to the area of I-65 and Indiana 267.

A public hearing on what city officials call “the I-65 annexation” will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 5 in the council chambers of the Municipal Building, 401 S. Meridian St., Lebanon.
