Construction will start Sept. 2 on Habitat for Humanity Boone County’s newest home.
Groundbreaking ceremonies were Saturday for the Jeri Veach family’s home in Whitestown. It is the second home in Whitestown, and third in Boone County, Habitat has begun this year. One home was built in Thorntown.
Steve Furste, executive director of Boone County Habitat, said more than 150 volunteers from Zionsville Presbyterian Church will participate in a 30-day “blitz build” to finish the Veach home by October. This will be the 11th home the church has helped construct.
“We are so happy to have provided these homes for 10 Boone County families,” Furste said in a press release. “We are blessed to have so many volunteers, local businesses and the area churches providing both the needed labor and donated building materials.”
The organization needs many volunteers for the committees needed to keep Habitat growing, Furste said.
