County libraries unite for program

By Sarah Lang/The Lebanon Reporter

Three Boone County libraries have come together with a single program and purpose — to get residents across the county to read together.

More specifically, through the United We Read Boone County program, residents and members of all three libraries have been reading “The Soloist” by Steve Lopez. Activities, movie screenings and discussions have been planned at the three libraries — the Lebanon Public Library, the Thorntown Public Library and the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library in Zionsville — throughout the program’s Sept. 12-Nov. 14 life, hoping to draw people from other parts of the county to visit a new library.

“We decided to get together and do some joint programming so people can see what all the libraries have to offer,” said Yvonne Welty, adult services librarian at LPL. “And do it in a way that’s fun.”
