Boone County 4-H recognizes achievements

By Sarah Lang/The Lebanon Reporter

Lebanon Thelma Wolfe was given the “Friend of 4-H” award Saturday evening at the 59th annual 4-H Achievement Awards Night at the Boone County Fairgrounds.

Don Weber, Jim Love Sr., and Wendell and Jean McBurney were honored as County Alumni for their long-time involvement and dedication to the 4-H program.

Hundreds attended the program where 4-Hers and club and project leaders were awarded for their achievements and participation.

“This is recognition that’s so well deserved by the 4-Hers and the leaders,” said Ken Hedge, 4-H council president.

Steven Hollingsworth of the Center 4-H Clovers, and John Biel of the Eagle Flying Eagles, received the Lyle Miller 4-H Award, given to the most outstanding youths each year by the New Salem Congregational Church in Lebanon to memorialize Miller, a dedicated 4-H leader and supporter.

J.B. Love of the Jefferson Doverites, and Abby Everett of the Perry Future Farmers, took home the Danforth Award, recognition for being outstanding junior leaders, each receiving a plaque and a copy of the book “I Dare You” by William H. Danforth.

Key Club Award recipients were Laura Beth Padgett of the Jefferson Doverites, and Austin Livesay of the Eagle Flying Eagles.
