Convicted killer dies in prison

By Rod Rose/The Lebanon Reporter

Learning that the killer of her daughter was dead brought no delight to Linda Heineman Lamb, she said Monday.

James F. “J.J.” Froman, convicted in September 2007 of murdering Adria Heineman, 19, in May 2006, died early Sunday morning at Wishard Hospital, Indianapolis, after being found unresponsive in his Pendleton Correctional Facility cell.

“It’s weird, it’s weird,” Lamb said. “I’m certainly not grieving his death, that’s for sure.”

Froman admitted kicking Heineman unconscious and throwing her into Boone’s Pond, a state fishing area near Indiana 267 and Interstate 65. Heineman drowned. Froman, a convicted sex offender who moved to Lebanon from West Virginia after being paroled, was arrested fewer than eight hours after Heineman’s body was found.

“I feel like I had everything packed up and neatly tucked away ... and this brought everything back to the forefront,” Lamb said.

Lamb, who told The Lebanon Reporter early Monday of Froman’s death, said she felt “fortunate” she learned he had died before it became public knowledge.
