By Marda Johnson/The Lebanon Reporter

Thorntown A rural Thorntown man was found dead in a pond on his property Monday evening.

According to information provided by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, Howard Davis, 77, apparently drowned while fishing at his pond in the area just west of Old Mill Run Park near Thorntown.

Thorntown Fire Chief Mike Martin said the call for help was made at about 6 p.m. by the victim’s wife, Sylvia, and Thorntown/Sugar Creek firefighters were the first to arrive at the scene.

Davis had been fishing, Martin said.

“He didn’t come home, and his wife tried to call him,” he said.
