The Western Boone Imperial Star Command and the Lebanon Tiger Pride Band will be among 44 bands entertaining the crowd at the Indiana State Fair on Band Day Friday.
Western Boone is slated to perform at 10:04 a.m. Lebanon will perform at 1:36 p.m.
Band Day is staged in the Hoosier Lottery Grandstand.
Bands representing Indiana high schools of all sizes participate in Band Day.
Preliminary competition begins at 9 a.m., with the last band scheduled to take the field just after 4:30 p.m. Finals for the top 16 bands, plus non-finalist champions in each of three classes, will begin at 8 p.m.
Western Boone will compete as a Class A band, with 30 or fewer playing members in a school with enrollment of 500 or less. Lebanon will compete as a Class AAA band, with 51 or more playing members, and a school enrollment of 801 or more.
Plaques and cash awards are given to all of the bands, with a top prize of $3,700.
Admission to the preliminary session is $6 for adults and $2 for children 12 and younger. Admission for finals is $10 for adults and $4 for children.
