LHS going digital with $1.15 million laptop purchases

Lebanon — All Lebanon High School students will have a new Macbook Air laptop in their hands this fall after the Lebanon school board approved a one-to-one technology initiative at Tuesday’s board meeting.

The move has been heavily discussed for the past couple of years, said LHS Principal Kevin O’Rourke. Other schools in the area like Avon, Brownsburg, Danville and Zionsville have been doing this for some time.

“We’re not wagging the dog; we’re not leading the pack,” O’Rourke said. “We’re in a good position for this. What I’m hearing is that we’re doing this in a well-thought-out manner, and they’re respectful of the process we’re undertaking.”

Lebanon administration has learned a lot from these other schools that have already made the textbook-to-computer switch, O’Rourke added. They’ve asked questions like: What do you wish you had done differently? And: What went well?
