Rental properties may be subject to city inspection

By Sarah Lang

— All rental properties in Lebanon will be part of a citywide inspection program if a new property maintenance ordinance is passed by the Lebanon City Council.

The ordinance was introduced at an October council meeting, where City Planning Director Charlie Campbell called it the answer to several complaints and questions he fields in his day-to-day work.

In the nearly five years that Campbell has worked for the city, he said there has been one constant — people asking him what can be done about unkempt properties around the city.

But this ordinance doesn’t just target properties for cosmetic reasons. The bottom line is safety.
