Mayor, state rep spar over equipment tax

Disagreement between Lebanon Mayor Huck Lewis and State Rep. Tim Brown over the impact Gov. Mike Pence’s proposal to eliminate Indiana’s personal property — essentially, a business’s equipment — tax for businesses sharpened Saturday’s legislative breakfast sponsored by the Boone County Chamber of Commerce. About three dozen persons attended the 7:30 a.m. event in the community room at Witham Health Services in Lebanon.

The exchange came during discussion of the impact the proposal would have on local governments.
