Stergar earns highest Girl Scout award

Rebekah Lynae Stergar of Lebanon has earned the highest award a girl can earn in Girl Scouting — the Girl Scout Gold Award.

Stergar wanted to build a peace garden for the women at Coburn Place Safe Haven. Coburn Place is a safe housing facility in Indianapolis for women who need housing when leaving an abusive relationship.

Stergar wanted to bring beauty into the lives of women who have had a hard time in the past and may need to have a safe place to watch their children play on the playground, eat lunch and relax in a safe environment.
