Costs of winter hammer area road departments

An extra $50,000 for overtime pay that Boone County Highway Superintendent Rick Carney will ask the county council to approve at its Feb. 11 meeting may still be inadequate.

In January alone, the department has spent nearly $114,000 on snow removal, Carney told the Boone County Commissioners Monday; of that, just over $54,000 was for overtime pay.
