Winter's grip may ease Wednesday

---- — Sub-zero temperatures that drove most of Boone County’s residents into their homes — or, for the unlucky, shelters — should moderate this week in time to bring another weather risk.

“I think by Wednesday we’ll be back to normal,” Lebanon Mayor Huck Lewis said Monday evening. “The thing that does worry me down the road is the potential for flooding.”

A weekend storm buried the city under 14 inches of snow, the second-highest amount in Indiana, and just 1.1 inches less than fell in the historic and crippling Blizzard of 1978.
