Slide-offs still dominating local roads

Crash numbers on Boone County roads continued to increase Tuesday as driving conditions remained poor, with the extremely cold temperatures.

From 1 p.m. Monday to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Boone County law enforcement agencies responded to 35 slide-off accidents and 12 property damage accidents. Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded to 17 slide-offs and one property-damage accident. Zionsville Police saw 13 slide-offs and two property damage crashes. Lebanon Police went to three slide-off accidents and five property damage crashes. And Whitestown Police responded to two slide-offs and four property damage accidents.

The Boone County Commissioners extended the travel warning for the county through 10 p.m. last night. Due to weather conditions, Lebanon, Western Boone and Zionsville schools closed again today.
