Boone County —
A group of Boone County farmers is preparing is shipping a tractor and other implements to a mission in Nairobi, Kenya, to help it grow food to feed 8,000 children a day.
AgriStewards espouses “farming God’s way,” Brian Smith, the group’s president, said, by teaching Third World farmers methods that increase their yields up to 10 times.
“Some have double and tripled their crop when they implement the lessons we teach,” Smith said.
Wednesday, AgriStewards loaded a 40-foot shipping container to send to Missions of Hope International in Joska, Nairobi, Kenya. The container was then taken overnight to a dock in Williamsburg, Va., to begin its trek across the Atlantic Ocean to Africa.
