Ottingers tackle choreography for upcoming dance contest

Lebanon — Fifth in the series featuring each of the seven competing couples in the Dancing with the Boone County Stars this Saturday is a couple well known to children in the Lebanon area — Ryan and Kari Ottinger.

Ryan and Kari Ottinger have been married for 12 years and have two children, Kobe, who is 10 years old, and Kylie, who is 8. Both children attend Central Elementary, and are involved in various extra-curricular activities that keep the entire family busy.

Kari was born and raised in Rantoul, Ill. After graduating from Rantoul High School, Kari attended Parkland College and earned an associate degree in science in education and business education. She then attended Illinois State University, earning her bachelor's in science of education and business education. Kari earned her master’s degree from Indiana University in science of education and administrative leadership. After teaching at Carmel High School and Pike High School, she became assistant principal at Lebanon High School. This year Kari started a new job as director of assessment and high ability for the Lebanon Community School Corporation.

Ryan is a lifelong Lebanon resident, graduating from LHS in 1995. He graduated from the University of Phoenix in 2010 with an associate degree in business. He is a water plant operator for Lebanon Utilities, where he has been working for the last 13 years. Along with coaching both children in various sports, Ryan is entering his sixth year as freshman boys basketball coach for Lebanon High School. Ryan is also on the board of directors for the Lebanon Area Boys and Girls Club.

The Ottingers will compete with a choreographed dance against six other Boone County celebrity couples at Mental Health America of Boone County’s fundraiser, Dancing with the Boone County Stars, this Saturday at the Murat Shrine Temple Egyptian Room in Indianapolis.
