Pence asks FEMA for storm-related grants

Boone is one of 49 Indiana counties for which Gov. Mike Pence has asked federal grants because of a winter storm that spanned Jan. 5-9.

In a 24-hour period, the storm dropped 14 inches of snow on Lebanon — the second-highest total in the state — and prompted the Boone County Commissioners to issue a level three travel advisory, banning all but emergency vehicles from highways. High winds caused drifting on both urban streets and rural roads.
