---- — A plan to unite Boone and four other counties in a regional organization that would boost the area’s economy was outlined to the Boone County Council Tuesday. Joining Boone in the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy region would be Clinton, Hendricks, Montgomery and Tippecanoe counties, and Purdue University’s Center for Regional Development, said Bryan Brackemyre, executive director of the Boone County Economic Development Corp. The counties would be part of a pilot project to assess “agile” planning for economic development. The agile concept allows greater flexibility and faster response, at a lower cost, Purdue officials said in a 2012 summary of the project. Joining the region “will allow Boone County to be more aggressive in applying for federal grants,” Brackemyre said. See Thursday's Lebanon Reporter for more on this story.
