County council OKs letter of intent for 650 S

An application for a $6.3 million grant to improve CR 650 S between Indianapolis Road and Indiana 267 was endorsed, 6-1, by the Boone County Council Tuesday.

County Highway Superintendent Rick Carney asked the council for a letter of intent that would back his request to receive money from the Federal Highway Administration, through the Indiana Department of Transportation, for the road work. Federal highway projects require a local government to pay 20 percent of the cost.
