City prepares for Menards’ opening

Lebanon — The opening date for the new Menards store in Lebanon is coming up quickly, said Charlie Campbell, director of the Lebanon Planning Department, at Monday’s Lebanon City Council meeting.

The proposed opening date is Feb. 28, he said, just four months away.

Campbell said he asked Tom O’Neil of the Menards how many other new stores the corporation is in the process of opening. And the answer was not many.

“They really aren’t doing many new stores right now,” Campbell said. “So I think it’s great that they put a lot of thought and are spending a fortune of money in this city. I’m happy to see that.”

And in preparation for the Menards opening, the Lebanon Board of Works approved a new three-way stop sign at Ping and Main streets at its meeting prior to the city council’s. Larry Lee, street superintendent, said it was a matter of safety.
