Hearings in Camm trial begin

Lebanon — Reporters from Louisville and Indianapolis TV stations were in Lebanon Monday for the first day of what is expected to be a week of pre-trial hearings in the Aug. 5 murder trial of a former Indiana State Police trooper.

David Camm has twice been convicted of killing his wife and two children in their home in Georgetown, Ind., in September 2000; both convictions were overturned on appeal.

The third trial was moved to Boone County in what is called a change of venue. Extensive publicity of the previous trials — one in Floyd County, the other in Warrick County — prompted lawyers to seek another location.

This week’s hearings are expected to be on several motions, including what evidence will be allowed or banned by Special Judge Jonathan Dartt, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal newspaper.

The trial is expected to last eight weeks.
