Planners pull I-65 zoning change

In a move accompanied by audience applause, the Boone County Area Plan Commission voted unanimously at its Oct. 9 meeting to withdraw plans for an Interstate 65 North zoning overlay district. The overlay district was under consideration as a proactive measure to protect the area from undesirable growth. It would have added more controls to zoning regulations. The intersection of I-65 and SR 47 was of particular concern. However, the vast majority of constituents who contacted the APC about the proposed overlay plan were overwhelmingly against it, APC President Jay Schaumberg said.
