Jamestown’s plan commission has recommended approval of a request from an auto part manufacturing company to rezone property that could lead to the company building a factory in Boone County.
Fukai Toyotetsu Indiana Corp. won a favorable recommendation to change zoning of a 40-acre field from agriculture to industrial at the plan commission’s meeting Tuesday. The property is at 7050 S. Indiana 75, about a quarter-mile south of Interstate 74, near the intersection of Old Union Road. Jamestown is one of the sites the company is considering.
The Jamestown Town Council will review whether to grant final approval for the change at a 7 p.m. July 1 meeting in the Jamestown Municipal Building, 421 E. Main St., Jamestown.
Toyotetsu America, Inc., manufactures suspension arms, center body pillars, cross members and other parts for Toyota vehicles. It operates four plants in North America, including facilities in Owensboro and Somerset, Tenn.
