Rachel Miller is 2014 Miss Boone County

Rachel Miller of Zionsville was crowned 2014 Miss Boone County 4-H Fair on Sunday, July 13. The 2013 Miss Boone County, Kate Emmert, was at the Witham Health Services Pavilion on the 4-H Fairgrounds to pass off her crown to Miller. Abby Messenger of Lebanon was crowned Miss Congeniality and second runner-up for the night. Fourth runner-up was Kayla Newsom of Lebanon, third runner-up was Britta Beyer of Lebanon, and first runner-up was BayLee Mitchell of Advance. Kayla Heydon of Lebanon received the Alpha Beta Chapter of Tri Kappa award. Miller said she was shocked to hear her name and is honored to serve as queen. “(This is) absolutely incredible,” Miller said. “I can’t really put it into words; it’s very difficult. I can’t describe it. I almost feel like crying. I did not expect that end result. The court is amazing. All of these girls are wonderful, so beautiful and so awesome in their own way, and I am very happy to be here.” Miller is a 2014 graduate of Zionsville Community High School and will be attending Indiana University - Bloomington in the fall to study chemistry. She has been involved in 4-H for a number of years, taking the cat project — with her cat Nutterbutter — geology and miscellaneous crafts. According to Miller, being involved in 4-H has taught her many valuable things she can apply to her future. See Tuesday's Lebanon Reporter for more of the story
