Boone County — NBC’s hit show “Parks and Recreation” had a lot of publicity for its downtown Indianapolis filming and just a day before, the crew was in Boone County.

Co-executive Producer Morgan Sackett said the show shot a few scenes in both Lebanon and Zionsville.

“We didn’t have a cast on Sunday because they were still traveling and (we) wanted to go shoot some exterior (scenes),” he said. “We are always trying to make the show look like Indiana as much as possible since we shoot in California.”

Sackett said the episode with scenes from Indianapolis, Zionsville and Lebanon would air Thursday, Jan. 17. He said some of the shots from Lebanon would be used as background footage for several episodes.

Sackett said the crew loved the courthouse square of Lebanon.

“It felt like a good Pawnee (the fictional city the show takes place in),” he said. “There was a great town square (in Lebanon) and a great courthouse. A courthouse square is always a great look that reads into that small town America, Midwest style.”

The show’s production crew set up shop at Greek’s Pizzeria, 30 N. Main St., for a few hours during the Sunday, Dec. 2, Indianapolis Colts football game against the Detroit Lions.
