VIDEO: Video fuels effort to find hit-and-run driver

Lebanon —

It has been 17 months since Anita Wernsing was killed by a run-away driver.
Neither her family nor local law enforcement agencies have forgotten Wernsing, 78, or given up the search for the person who ran her down on Indiana 267 in Fayette, a few dozen feet from her home, about 6 p.m. on Nov. 25, 2012.
Now, the family hopes for closure, and police hope for an arrest, through a public service announcement created by Ball State University students at the request of Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana.
Copies of the PSA were given to local media during a press conference Monday at the Boone County Jail.
Gary Davis, a son-in-law of Wernsing, said that since her death four great-grandchildren have been born, a grandson has died, and there have been two weddings. As he spoke, he held a photo portrait of his wife, Kathy, with her mother.
“The one thing the family wants is closure,” Davis said. “We forgive the person who did it. We just want to put this to rest.”
