County picks engineering firm for Ford Road bridge

The engineering firm Butler Fairman & Seufert , Inc. has been chosen to design a new bridge for Ford Road over Eagle Creek.

A contract for the service is scheduled to be signed by the Boone County Commissioners during their 9 a.m. Monday meeting at the Boone County Annex, 116 W. Washington St., Lebanon.

Butler Fairman & Seufert was one of six engineering firms interviewed by the commissioners for the bridge project, which has an estimated cost between $1.333 million and $1.697 million. No date for construction has been set.

Also Monday, the commissioners are expected to hear a request for identification badges from attorneys involved in the David Camm murder trial, due to begin Aug. 5 in the Boone Circuit courtroom. Camm, a former Indiana State Trooper, was twice convicted of murder in the deaths of his wife and their two children at in September 2000 at their home in Georgetown, Ind. Both convictions, one in Floyd County, the other in Warrick County, were overturned. This trial was moved to Boone County because of extensive publicity.

Issuing ID badges to the lawyers could speed up security checks during the trial, which is expected to take about two months.
