---- — Michael Miller will become the county’s full-time facilities manager on Aug. 1, with a $5,650 raise to $53,000 a year. The raise reflects the added responsibilities, Commissioner Jeff Wolfe said.

Miller’s promotion is part of what Wolfe said was, “a complete restructuring of our maintenance department.” County-owned buildings that require regular maintenance are valued at $49.5 million, Wolfe said.

The Boone County Commissioners are responsible for the repair and upkeep of those buildings. By creating the facilities manager job, and transferring some employees, “There would be more people who would flow between the buildings and be more flexible,” Wolfe said.

One new position would be created: a part-time administrative assistant, to help Miller with the increased paperwork.
