Walking chosen more than public transit for Boone workers

Boone County — Nearly 27,000 Boone County residents commute to work, most of them do it alone, and just over half were men, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

In 2010, the Census Bureau put the county’s labor force at 37,975, based on the number of people who live in the county, work, and filed tax returns. Counting people 16 and older, 26,517 people worked, with 22,813 of them commuting solo. About 1,225, or 4.6 percent, of them worked at home.
