---- — Killing some time as the Boone County 4-H Fair queen contestants changed outfits backstage at the fairgrounds’ Witham Health Services Pavilion Sunday, emcee Tom Dull shared with the crowd at the queen contest that there have been three sets of sisters in the county’s fair queen history.
That number increased to four Sunday as Kate Emmert was crowned the 2013 Boone County 4-H Fair queen. Emmert’s sister, Abby, was the 2011 queen.
“Everybody was just unbelievable,” Emmert said after the contest, visibly surprised by the news. “I’m so overwhelmed, just so happy and excited.”
Emmert was selected from 15 contestants, and will represent Boone County at the Indiana State Fair queen contest later this summer. In the queen’s court are first runner-up and Miss Congeniality, Lindsey Williams; second runner-up Jordan Paul; third runner-up Grace Rushton; and fourth runner-up Jackie Spall.
