Spray paint suspect out on bond

Indianapolis — A Lebanon woman accused of causing extensive damage to several buildings, including the historic Boone County Courthouse and the Lebanon Public Library, has been released from jail on $5,000 surety bond/$550 cash.

Sandra K. Harlan, 47, 1300 block of Brooke Drive, bonded out of jail Wednesday, according to court records.

She was arrested March 19 by Lebanon Police after video surveillance recordings taken at the library and the Lebanon Wal-Mart showed a person whom she strongly resembles buying and then using black paint to spray cryptic symbols on buildings.

Harlan was charged with nine counts of criminal mischief, one as a class D felony.

An effort to power wash the paint from two of the 35-feet-high, 30-ton limestone columns on the south portico of the courthouse was not completely successful. Faint but stubborn images of what appear to be a flowing letter “B” and a reverse “J” remain.
