Poverty simulation coming to local seminar

Boone County — Eliminating child hunger in Boone County by 2020 is the goal of the second annual Feeding Our Future, One Child At A Time seminar.

This year’s event, April 23 in the Witham Health Services Pavilion at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds, includes a role-playing experience in living at the poverty level.

At this year’s event, for up to 80 people at each of two simulations, following the path to full stomachs will include a one-hour detour into poverty.

Theresa Hanners, executive director of The Caring Center, said the simulation is provided by the Missouri Association for Community Action.
