Witham Gala makes move to Carmel

The annual Witham Health Services Foundation gala is Saturday at a new location — the Renaissance Hotel in Carmel.

Typically held at Lumiere Du Corps in Boone County, the event had to move because Lumiere closed its doors last year. Tammy Rabe, Witham’s director of marketing and community relations, said they searched extensively for a new location, visiting 10 different venues. And The Renaissance offered the right combination of amenities such as adequate space, elegant decor, easy access, good food and the option of overnight rooms for guests who wanted to stay, Rabe said.“Each year, the gala seems to grow in interest, and unfortunately, there was not a place large enough to hold a sit-down dinner in Boone County,” Rabe added. The event was attended by more than 300 people last year.

The gala is sold out for this year. It will include dinner and cocktails, live entertainment, dancing and auctions. Action artist Michael Israel, known for his Art in Concert performances, will be the live entertainment. Israel has performed at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, for Jay Leno, and at the Presidential Dinner and Gala in Washington, D.C.“This world-renowned artist electrifies artists with his paint and passion and helps organizations like ours further our fundraising efforts,” Rabe said.

Also back by popular demand, Rabe said, will be Charlie’s Pocket, a live band featuring former physician Dr. Watt, who moved away last year.“We have been well-supported by the community through attendance, silent auction donations and in spirit,” Rabe said. “The gala celebrates the bond we have with our physicians, patients and the community at large, and we are so thankful for this support, which enables the foundation to fund special programs, services and equipment for our community hospital.”
