Local firefighters, civilians experience live fire training hosted by the LFD

The Lebanon Fire Department has hosted a live fire training trailer for the last month, running about 100 firefighters through the simulation where they train with real fire in a controlled environment.

The trailer is an asset of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, and travels all over the state to different training districts, said LFD Deputy Chief Robert Wirey. Wirey is also training coordinator for district five, which includes Marion County and all of the bordering counties. Pike Township and Lebanon are the only two training facilities in district five.
