Local woman says no to normalcy in international scavenger hunt

Lebanon resident Summer Heacock may have turned a lot of heads this week. She dressed up as a baby, complete with binky, to order coffee in a drive-thru in pre-verbal baby talk. She put a tank top on a rooster. She dressed herself up in a prom dress, and dressed up her car as her date. She adorned a wheelchair and its owner as a superhero in a superhero car. But she’s not crazy. She is a participant in something called the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen, or GISHWHES for short. It is the three-time Guinness World Record breaking scavenger hunt hosted by actor Misha Collins, star of the show “Supernatural.” Teams are made up of participants from around the globe who come together for one week out of the year to release creative thinking and good deeds. More than 14,500 people participated last year, breaking a record for the most participants in a scavenger hunt. People are placed on teams spanning the globe. Heacock is on a team with 14 other people, who are from Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Kentucky, Great Britain, Canada, and Australia. The received their list of 157 tasks to complete last Sunday, and they split them up among the members. The hunt ends this Sunday.
