Kiwanis hosts annual Fishing Derby May 18

More than 100 children are expected to crowd Lebanon’s Hot Pond on May 18 for Kiwanis’ annual Fishing Derby.

The derby will begin at 8 a.m. and last until around noon, said Greg Colvin, chairman of the event. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., and will take place the day of the event. It is free to participate for children ages 5 to 15.

“All they need to do is show up with a fishing rod,” Colvin said. “Even if they’ve never fished before, there will be plenty of people to help them out and get them started.”

Families are encouraged to come out and enjoy the event together, Colvin added. There will be free hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, soda and water.

“Everything from soup to nuts,” he said. “From the start to the end, we take care of everybody at no cost.”
