Jobless rate up .2% in August

Lebanon — Unemployment in Boone County was 6.3 percent in August, down 1.2 percent from 2011. It was, however, up .2 percent from July’s figure.

The figures, gathered by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development and released Sept. 21, indicated 1,766 of the county’s 28,016-member workforce were unemployed, down 17.3 percent from August 2011.

While jobless figures in both Lebanon and Zionsville were sharply down from the same period last year, they also were up slightly from July, to 7.8 percent in Lebanon and 4.7 percent in Zionsville.
