Police make two arrests for illegal prescription distribution

Two people were arrested in Lebanon Tuesday on charges related to a month-long investigation into the illegal distribution of prescription drugs.

The Boone/Hamilton County Task Force arrested Aaron B. Glasson, 21, and Melissa S. Laney, 28. Glasson was arrested in the 800 block of Indianapolis Avenue; Laney was arrested in the 400 block of East Walnut Street. Both were arrested on two counts of conspiracy to deal a schedule IV controlled substance (Alprazolam) within 1,000 feet of a public park, a class B felony, and one count of maintaining a common nuisance, a class D felony. Glasson was also arrested on two counts of possessing a schedule IV controlled substance (Alprazolam) within 1,000 feet of a public park, a class C felony. Additionally, Laney was arrested on one count of neglect of a dependent, a class D felony, for allegedly selling the Alprazolam in the presence of her two children.

Alprazolam is a prescription medication commonly used for the medical treatment of panic disorder, and anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder or social anxiety disorder.

The Hamilton/Boone County Drug Task Force was assisted by the Lebanon Police Department, Boone County DCS, and Boone County Probation. The Hamilton/Boone County Drug Task Force continues to investigate the illegal distribution of prescription medication in the Hamilton and Boone county area and more arrests are expected to follow.

The Hamilton/Boone County Drug Task Force is comprised of officers from the Carmel, Fishers, Lebanon, Zionsville Police Department, and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, with support from the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office and the Boone County Prosecutor’s Office.
