Police continue wrong-way crash probe

A day after a crash on Interstate 65 Wednesday night, police are still trying to determine who was driving the vehicle that caused the crash by going the wrong way.

The 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix going north in the southbound lanes crashed head-on into an Indianapolis Airport Taxi van, Boone County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Chris Burcham said.

The Grand Prix was occupied by Amanda Smith, 36, and Logan Shultz, 31, both of Brownsburg. Smith was taken to IU Hospital Methodist with unknown injuries. Shultz was taken to St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, with a possible broken neck.

Neither of the Grand Prix’s occupants was wearing a seat belt, said Boone County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Brian Stevenson, who is heading the investigation.
