UPDATED: Death of Frankfort man under investigation

A man whose death is under investigation was found in a road-side ditch by his wife Sunday, according to police records.

Neal Iddings, 63, rural Frankfort, had a history of heart problems and suffered from high blood pressure, his wife told a Boone County Sheriff’s Office dispatcher during a 3:30 a.m. 911 call.

The couple had been at the Draught Board, a Lebanon tavern, on Saturday night. He left before she did; she found him along County Road 150 W, just north of Indiana 47, according to police reports.

Iddings was taken first to Witham Memorial Hospital, and then airlifted to Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, where he died during surgery for head injuries. It was unknown whether Iddings sustained his injuries because of a medically-related issue, was struck by a vehicle, or was attacked. The autopsy could give investigators more information.

Iddings was last seen at the Draught Board, 528 Lafayette Ave., Lebanon, Saturday night, Burcham said.

Iddings was taken to the emergency room at Witham Memorial Hospital, and then airlifted to Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, where he died during surgery for head injuries.

“As there is limited information available, our investigators are treating this with great attention,” Sheriff Ken Campbell said in an email.

Anyone who was with Iddings or has information about his last hours Saturday or Sunday is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 765-482-1412. Tips may be emailed to tips@co.boone.in.us.
