LPD seeks to open own firing range

By Rod Rose

Lebanon — Lebanon police want to do firearms training and qualification on a range of their own, but they need permission from the Boone County Area Plan Commission first.

Space is available — at the city’s long-abandoned landfill about four miles north of downtown Lebanon on U.S. 52.

To build the range there, however, the city must be granted a special exception from zoning regulations by the APC.

Officers now use the Boone County Sheriff’s Office range, south of the Boone County Jail, 1905 Lafayette Avenue.
