Grounds project moving forward

Lebanon — The Lebanon Community School Corp. is moving forward with a project that will relocate the building and grounds facility and create a new concession area for the Lebanon High School football stadium after the school board gave permission for the project at Tuesday’s board meeting.

The project is one that has been discussed for quite a while, said Bob Ross, executive director of resources and operations. The proximity of the current building and grounds facility to the high school is of some concern because it houses fuel tanks. So they are looking at building a new facility behind the middle school and turning the current building and grounds site into a new concession and restroom area for the football stadium.

The board’s permission will allow Ross to look into the possible scope of the work and submit it for bid considerations. Once bids have been received, he will bring them back to the board for approval.

Ross brought up the project last month, and he has taken into consideration several concerns and suggestions board members raised then. For one, he is now considering a steel framework and steel roof on the new facility. He is also looking into the possibility of a new road that leads to the facility. But all of that is up to the budget.
