State technical troubles postpone ISTEP testing

Boone County — Annual ISTEP testing both began and ended Monday after students in the Lebanon Community School Corp. and statewide faced technological issues that forced the Indiana Department of Education to halt testing until further notice.

At around 10 a.m. Monday, schools around the state began reporting connection problems, said Will Pullins, LCSC assessment director. This is the first year that every student in the state was taking the ISTEP tests totally online.

Students in grades 3 to 8 began testing yesterday. The students did start testing, said LCSC Superintendent Dr. Robert Taylor, but many students then got kicked off and couldn’t log back in. Students would not be able to log back in for one to 13 minutes. And though it did not affect every individual student, Taylor said it is still a problem.
