Advance FD transporting ambulance now in service

When the Advance Fire Department put its transporting ambulance in service three weeks ago, Chief Jim Caldwell anticipated it would make, at most, 80 runs a year.

In those three weeks, the ambulance has taken 14 patients to area hospitals, including four on a single day.

The 1993 Chevrolet chassis was donated to Advance by the Silverton, Colo., Fire Department after it purchased a new vehicle.
