Rural Thorntown victim ID'd

Thorntown — Fred Autio, 59, has been identified as the man who was found dead at his home, 1653 W. 725 N, late in the evening of Jan. 7, during the heavy snow and bitter cold period.

The cause of death has not yet been determined, Boone County Coroner Shon Hough said Tuesday.

When neighbors found Autio he was clutching a snow shovel, between a car and a garage door at the rural Thorntown residence. He had been dead for some time, Thorntown Fire Chief Mike Martin said.
