Commissioners may update fixed asset inventory on their own

---- — The Boone County Commissioners may bypass a consultant and determine on their own the value of the county’s “fixed assets” such as bridges, roads, buildings and vehicles.

Auditor Deanna Willhoite told the Boone County Council earlier this month that Government Fixed Asset Services has offered to update the list, which it compiled in 2006, but that would cost $14,000. Annual updates would cost $2,500.

Michael Nielsen of GFAS told the commissioners on Jan. 11 that when the 2006 list was compiled, the county’s fixed assets had an estimated value of $100 million. That figure could now have doubled or tripled, he said.
