Boone County’s historic drought is over, but consumers face a potential soaking from food prices.
Nearly 60 percent of Indiana, including Boone, had emerged from drought conditions, the U.S. Drought Monitor said Thursday morning in a weekly report based on information gathered the Tuesday before.
Moderate drou-ght continued to exist in only eight far northwestern Indiana counties, and in Posey and Vanderburgh counties in southwestern Indiana.
The week before, Boone was one of 16 counties, stretching from Illinois to Ohio that were all or substantially drought-free, the USDM said on Oct. 25. Just more than a quarter of the state was drought free, the USDM said.
