Local teen born to sing

Boone County — Debbie Dant was 32 when she learned she had breast cancer. After surgery, she had a recurrence, and the cancer had spread to both lungs and her sternum.

And a prognosis like that was most often terminal. But Debbie underwent another round of chemotherapy and survived. But as a result, she had to give up her dream of having a boy and a girl. The chemo made Debbie, who only had a boy, sterile.

“I was just thankful to be alive,” Debbie said. “But lo and behold, two months later, I found out I was having a miracle baby.

It was a girl.

Chrisy Dant was born in 1997 and showed an aptitude for music at an early age. Even before kindergarten, Chrisy would spend her time on the trampoline outside their Whitestown home, singing at the top of her lungs — whether the neighbors wanted to hear it or not, Debbie said.
